Deja Vu

Topic 4

When I read the article “Defining OER-enabled Pedagogy” by Wiley and Hilton, it strengthened my idea and practice of open learning last week. The Distributed and Open learning refers to the use of knowledge teaching as the carrier and human development as the primary goal. By creating a lively and autonomous teaching environment that is conducive to students, it provides students with sufficient space for development, thereby encouraging students to take the initiative in exploring In the process, all aspects of quality have been comprehensively developed. It can be said that Open learning is not only a teaching method and teaching mode, but also a teaching concept, the core of which is the development of students.

Consequently, when using OER, as opposed to traditionally copyrighted resources, students are free to engage in a broader range of activities and, therefore, to learn in a broader range of ways. The core ideas of OER-enabled pedagogy are in many ways a combination of openness as characterized by the 5Rs and Papert’s (1991) notion of constructionism. Wiley, D. & Hilton, J. (2018). By benefiting from the network, low-cost disk space and cloud computing, we can store, share, and copy digital education resources at almost zero cost. Therefore, I think education is not only limited to classrooms, it should happen in streets, cities, and every corner of the world. Open learning should not be limited to academic students. Openness is embodied in: open space, open environment, open courses, open attitude, and open use of resources.
